Kambo

Kambo is a sacred medicine derived from the Giant Waxy Tree Frog of the Amazon basin. A completely legal substance, the medicine is applied in small dots to superficial burns the in the skin that brings the person through an immediate purge process; physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. While often regarded as just a physical cleansing, I perceive Kambo as a spiritual medicine that holds deep intelligence to help us identify, release and heal that which is no longer serving us. Commonly used alongside Ayahuasca, it is a potent, non-psychedelic (generally) medicine to help us prepare for/integrate journeys, and to heal in its own right.

The Kambo frog, also called the giant waxy tree frog (AKA Phyllomedusa Bicolor), is a frog that lives in the amazon basin. It is told that a shaman of the Kaxinawa tribe named Kampu was guided to the frog by Ayahuasca in order to heal his sickly tribe. The frog's secretion is humanely collected by imitating its call until it climbs into the hands of those calling for it, then gently scraping the medicine off it's back. The frog is not harmed in the process.

After burning small, superficial holes in the skin (traditionally the arm or ankle), the secretion is placed on the burns where the medicine travels directly into the lymphatic system.

The body begins to enter a purgative process, ranging from vomiting to diarrhea, shaking, crying, laughing, waves of energy moving through the body, and much more.

Many find that after the medicine has worn off, they feel deeply relaxed, soft in their bodies, clear in their minds, and energized to pursue their goals without inner hindrances.
